Scary greeting cards used to 'remind' tennants.
A housing association which has 14000 social homes throughout Merseyside has been accused of using Mafia style intimidating tactics to get their tenants to pay their rent on time. And how did they do it? They sent all their tenants a card showing a cute spring lamb with a message that read ‘Are you for the chop this spring? Pay your rent on time’.
This tactic has clearly upset many tenants, one explaining that "The Mafia and other criminals who wish to intimidate their victims have traditionally used a coded message of an animal about to die, or dead’.
The Housing Director has apologised unreservedly, explaining that ‘they had got it wrong’. Which we think is a complete understatement when you consider how the elderly or vulnerable must have felt to have received this reminder.
Art of Greetings supply many corporate clients who use greeting cards to promote their company or services to their customers. However to disguise a threat within a greeting card is nothing short of threatening. We hope that the Housing Association management have the good grace to send all their tenants a beautiful ‘Sorry’ card.
